CTAEX, Research Business Association Agri-food National Technological Centre Extremadura is an independent non-profit organization founded in July 27, 2000. CTAEX has vast experience in the agri-food sector with expertise in traditional and innovative exctraction techniques from vegetable.

 

Role in the project:

CTAEX will provide expertise in the project and will benefit from the knowledge of the other participants in it. In the next future, these experience and new knowledge could be applied on others projects with Spanish companies. CTAEX is a research institute highly specialised in the sector of tomato products, in solid-liquid extraction techniques and in carrying out pack tests. It will analyse all the wastes supplied by CHIESA and MARTINETE, and will define and optimize the extraction phase. In addition, compatibly with the times of the project it will conduct 3 pack tests to obtain indications as to the behaviour of the new lacquers in direct contact with several types of food products.

 

Key staff:

· Rosa de la Torre, Head of Food Science and Safety Department of CTAEX and Head of the laboratories since 2001. She has led several projects on quality control of different food raw materials, the development of technologies for the extraction and evaluation of active ingredients in officinalis plant extracts, the valorisation of by-products of the food industry.

· Ascensión Ciruelos, a graduate in Chemistry, joined the Nestlé R&D Centre in 1985. Since 2001 she has worked as Head of the Quality Control Laboratory.

· Carmen Gonzalez, Head of Food Technology Department of CTAEX since 2001. She joined the Nestle R&D Centre in Badajoz as a Project Leader in the Food technology Department until becoming Head of the Department. She has led several projects related to food technology, ingredients, new technologies, preservative techniques in food, etc.
